In conjunction with the Purchasing & Distribution Interest Group, The Pharmacia & Upjohn award of £1000 will be made to fund work in the field of procurement and distribution of pharmaceuticals in the hospital environment. areas of interest may be in one of the following: The procurement, storage and distribution of medicines in hospitals The Cold Chain EDI Implementation IT for purchasing, ordering and distribution IT for stock control and usage data capture Best Practice and Benchmarking in the field Training developments Any other related topics in the field
These are not prescriptive and any other topic in the area will be considered. The winner will be expected to present the winning paper to the PDIG day conference and to submit for presentation as a poster at the 6th Congress of the European Association of Hospital Pharmacists, in Amsterdam, 21 ­ 23 March 2001.
Whilst the major portion of this award is intended to fund the project, the winner may use some of the remaining funds to attend the EAHP meeting in Amsterdam. This includes the registration fee, travel expenses and hotel accommodation. The award is open to pharmacists pharmacy technicians pharmacy support staff
