RepsDirect No 577 - 23 October 2006

From

New NHS Redundancy Agreement
In Reps Direct 538,568 and 572 you were advised of the consultation for the new redundancy agreement, the ratification of the new agreement by the staff council executive on 15th September and the subsequent delay in implementing the new agreement as a result of complaints by trusts in England regarding the alleged costs of the new redundancy arrangements.

Lord Warner met the unions on 12th October and we have now been informed that approval has been given to the new agreement. As a consequence a revised section 16 of the AfC terms and conditions handbook will shortly be finalised and circulated. This delay will not affect anyone's entitlement under the new agreement since its provisions will be effective from 1st October with payments backdated to that date for those staff made redundant from 1st October.
