District Member's Report for Guild Council Meeting 29.11.2001

Glasgow & West of Scotland Group Meetings
There will have been two group meetings held since the last report. The first being the Annual Ten-pin Bowling Competition. Once again the team from the Royal Alexandra Hospital were victorious, although it was a very close run thing this year.
The second meeting was the joint meeting with the local branch of the RPSGB. It was a very interesting meeting on pharmacist involvement in LHCCs.

Organisational Changes
The pharmacy review in the North Glasgow Hospitals Trust continues. The introduction of a new computer system and the lack of success in replacing posts is having a detrimental effect on morale within the trust.

Staffing
Argyll & Clyde Acute Trust has had no response for an aseptic post advertised twice at grade D. It is to be readvertised as grade C/D (Macmillan Pharmacist). Greater Glasgow Primary Care Trust had a clinical post vacated in August, regraded and then put on hold. Forth Valley Acute Hospitals have a D grade vacancy and another D grade post to be advertised.

Strategy for Pharmaceutical Care Reference Group
The Group held an open forum on 15th May for a wider group of organisations than those actually represented on the Group. The meeting was very useful and a report is available on www.ghpscot.org.uk.

Advice and questions
Advice has been given on regrading and EDA negotiations. I have also solved a few membership related problems for members.

Meeting of Scottish Secretary with Chief Pharmacist Bill Scott and Michael Fuller
A meeting has been arranged for December 10th to discuss matters of mutual interest. Don Page will be attending and Jim Bannerman if he is able.

Group News
I have been informed of several new members and processed several others as Membership Secretary for the Group.

Sarah Harris at Stirling Royal Infirmary is trying to get a volunteer to represent Falkirk Royal Infirmary members.

We still have a vacancy for Group Vice-chairman. Volunteers are urgently requested to contact a member of the committee.

Emergency Duty Negotiations
I am unaware of any successful negotiations locally to obtain an uplift for 2000/01 for the Emergency Duty Allowance. Attempts to start negotiations appear in the main to have been meet with stalling tactics by management.
