District Member's Report for Guild Council Meeting 11.4.2002

Glasgow & West of Scotland Group Meetings
The Annual Quiz had a lower turnout than usual. This was probably due to the problems in finding a venue which meant that publicity was very late in being issued. The other meeting which should have taken place was the joint SCPPE / CPP / GHP meeting on CPD and portfolios. For a number of reasons, the decision was taken to cancel the meeting with a hope that it can feature as one of nest sessions meetings.

Organisational Changes
Glasgow Primary Care Trust has employed management consultants to look at pharmacy restructuring. Apart from the continuing pharmacy review in the North Glasgow Hospitals Trust, there appears to be nothing else of note happening within the District.

Staffing
Glasgow Primary Care Trust have managed to fill a D grade clinical pharmacist post after a wait of almost a year. Forth Valley Primary Care Trust have recently filled a long term pharmacist post vacancy with a part time pharmacist and a part time technician.

Advice and questions
Advice has been given on job descriptions and possible grievance procedures. I have also advised on the difficulty in speeding up the issue of the Scottish Executive Pay and Conditions Letter which is the equivalent of the DoH Advance Letter. SEHD will not produce anything until the DoH has reached agreement and issued the Advance Letter. The AL is then scrutinised and amended if necessary and issued. I have been informed that it should be issued the week beginning 1.4.02.

Group News
The Group appears to be fairly dormant (possibly comatose) at the moment.

We still have a vacancy for Group Vice-chairman. Volunteers are urgently requested to contact a member of the committee.
