Glasgow & West of Scotland Group Meetings
The Annual General meeting was scheduled for April 8th but was abandoned as inquorate. Discussions are ongoing as to when to hold the AGM.

Amicus Job Description Training Day 26.4.04
I attended one of the Job Description training days which have taken place around the country. It was very useful and I had hoped to get it written up as a report. Unfortunately, time pressures have prevented me thus far from doing so.

Amicus Meeting to discuss NHS Greater Glasgow Finance Recovery Plan 15.6.04
This meeting was to be held to discuss the plans which NHS Greater Glasgow has devised to recover from the £58m predicted overspend for 2004/5, but was cancelled shortly before it was to take place.

Proposed Hospital Changes
NHS Greater Glasgow has completed it’s consultation on Maternity Services and has voted to close the Queen Mothers Hospital . The decision now rests with the Minister, although there has been much in the press claiming that the consultation exercise was deeply flawed.
NHS Argyll and Clyde have announced plans to downgrade Inverclyde Royal Hospital to an ambulatory care centre with, or possibly without, in-patient beds. Vale of Leven hospital has already been downgraded with the loss of emergency services. Ravenscraig, Merchiston and Argyll and Bute Hospitals are to close and elderly care beds in two other hospitals will also close. The new divisional structure within Argyll & Clyde has led to the displacement of the former Argyll and Bute Primary Care Trust Chief Pharmacist.
Stobhill Hospital Pharmacy aseptic suite was closed down at the end of March in an effort to save money.

Local activity on Agenda For Change
Pharmacy at Inverclyde Royal Hospital were asked if pharmacy would be interested in helping them pilot a job description template. Despite the affirmative answer, nothing further has been heard from HR. NHS Greater Glasgow has asked trade unions for staff side volunteers for matching panels.

Membership
I have processed around 8 new membership forms since the last meeting. Agenda for Change has really sparked an interest in GHP membership!
