SCOTTISH EXECUTIVE HEALTH DEPARTMENT

NHS CIRCULAR AL(PH)2/91 APPENDIX H

REMUNERATION OF PHARMACISTS EMPLOYED BY HEALTH BOARDS

GRADE B - ADDITION OF DISCRETIONARY POINT

1. Employing authorities may advance the position on the spine of grade B posts by one point for posts which have developed to the extent that the postholder is required to assume additional responsibilities or provide specialist skills but which do not warrant a higher grade. The minimum and maximum of the post should advance by one point, as should the pay spine point of the postholder.
2. Scale advancement, as in para 1 above, is at the discretion of the employing authority and is not to be used for personal merit or for individual performance in a post. Appeals against decisions on scale advancement may be pursued through normal grievance procedures to employing authority level but the provisions of section 32 of the General Whitley Council conditions of service concerning appeal to regional committee do not apply.
