1 Review Body Visits The Review Body is undertaking its annual review of NHS staff. Whilst we have agreed a three-year deal as part of Agenda for Change, the RB will undertake key work shadowing this process. This is particularly important in view of its expanded role covering in addition to Nurses, Midwives, Health Visitors and Professions Allied to Medicine:
Allied Health Professions: Speech and Language Therapists, Prosthetists and Orthotists. Ambulance Paramedics.
Healthcare Scientists: BMS's, MTO's, and Clinical Scientists.
Healthcare Pharmacists, Hospital Optometrists, Clinical Psychologists, Adult and Child Psychotherapists, Family Therapists.
Trusts have been asked to involve these groups in the meetings with the RB. Politely check this is the case if your Trust is listed and that its is staff not managers who are represented.
The list of trusts that the Review Body are visiting is attached. The question areas will include:
- recruitment and retention - what is the situation, which staff groups are most affected, what are key issues in recruiting and retaining staff
- morale and motivation - how are morale and motivation, what impact are initiatives such as IWL having, what are the staff attitude surveys showing and what actions are planned/underway
- Review Body recommendations - what is the reaction to the 3-year deal, what reaction to piloting of Agenda for Change, if near an early implementer does this raise issues, what is the role of the Review Body in the short and longer term, how do staff in the extended remit react to coming into the Review Body's purview, how do other staff feel about this.
- Agenda for Change - what reactions so far, if there is full rollout of AfC what impact will it have on recruitment and retention, morale, staff roles.
