Attached is the agreement on on-call reached at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Trust. Amicus has repeatedly raised with the DoH our continuing concerns about on-call and unsocial hours as set out in the draft agreement. To move this on nationally an agreed on-call questionnaire has been sent to EI sites requesting details for the following purpose:
Identify the current requirement for on-call across EI sites including identification of the key staff groups involved in provision of on-call services.
Provide an understanding of the percentage of that staff group providing on-call services and the instance of on-call service by staff group.
Identify emerging learning EI sites as staff are beginning to transfer onto Agenda for Change including agreements being reached, challenging aspects, areas that are working well etc…
Identification of a timetable for actions that are being taken within the organisation.

In addition the Best Practice Facilitators are collecting responses from EI sites in relation to unsocial hours. On-call and unsocial hours fall within the scope of the review of EI sites and both are issues that Amicus and other unions regard to be high priorities.
