£30 million to fund AfC backfill for TU reps/stewards

In a press statement released 7 October 2004 Health Minister John Hutton announced additional funding for backfilling TU reps/stewards working on AfC. Amicus raised concerns about funding for backfill at a recent meeting of the TUC’s Public Services Liaison Group and this additional money in the system is welcome. The money will be distributed by SHAs. All NHS organisations implementing Agenda for Change in national roll out will be eligible for assistance.

Reps/stewards are reminded of the AfC Time and Facilities for Staff agreement reached during the summer review of AfC as well as the commitment to partnership working in the proposed agreement.

Unison Special Conference decision

At a Special Conference held 7 October 2004 Unison delegates voted overwhelmingly to recommend a Yes vote in the Agenda for Change ballot being held by Unison later this month.

The Amicus AfC ballot opens on 21 October and closes 11 November. The helpline open from 21 October is 0845 8504242.
