Workplace reps are encouraged to promote the Amicus Join on-line facility among the many health workers who are not yet members of a trade union. The most common reason that people state for not joining a union is that no one asked them - inviting colleagues to join on-line hopefully simplifies the task of recruitment.
Why join Amicus?
Amicus is the campaigning trade union in the NHS and health sector that opposes cuts to services, fragmentation of health care provision and creeping privatisation. We of course offer members excellent support across a very wide range of employment and professional issues with legal services when necessary.
N.B.If joining in this way, you may have to contact amicus once you have received your welcome pack to ensure you are registered on the database as a pharmacist and therefore a member of GHP. Unless it has been changed, there is nowhere during the process that does this automatically. (Colin Rodden)
