Council Meeting
A proposal was accepted to add National Secretary reports to the Council Agenda in the future. This will mean that my current District Members Report will in future be split into District Member and Secretary for Scotland reports.

Future of GHP
There was considerable discussion on the option appraisal produced for Council by the President and the Chair of PWC. This took the majority of the meeting so discussion on other matters was necessarily limited. It was noted that the status quo was not an option. It appears MSF only want to deal with terms and conditions matters and regard the GHP as expensive. Guild Council Executive met with Roger Spiller at the end of the meeting to discuss MSF views on the GHP.

Pre-registration year changes
Some concern was expressed regarding RPSGB plans for changing the pre-registration year to ensure all graduates experienced both community and hospital pharmacy. The concept may be fine but the practicalities need to be sorted out. It was agreed that the President would write to RPSGB on this matter.

Role of the District Member
District Members were asked to comment on the current description of what their role should be, so that it is possible to consider the possible repercussions of changing district boundaries.

Emergency Duty Allowance
In the face of hostility from Pharmaceutical Whitley Management Side (MS) on any discussions on EDA, Staff Side (SS) suggested a survey of Trusts to find out where EDA has been increased, MS refused to even consider such a move. GHP has therefore decided that the only way forward is through Industrial Tribunals. To do this they need to know of both successes and refusals of EDA claims. Any information should be sent to me at scotsec@ghpscot.org.uk. Meanwhile, SS are preparing for more Whitley Council meetings next year.
